Purpose and Programs
It’s my mission to teach you the importance of great body posture, positioning, & movements for faster recovery from injuries. I extend this knowledge to individuals who struggle to do day to day activities, whether on the job, in the game, or at home.
If you’re familiar with fascia then you would understand why it takes a while to make changes in the body. If you’re unfamiliar with what fascia is, allow me to educate you briefly.
At one point in time I’m sure you’ve seen a piece of chicken and peeled the skin back, that stuff you see connecting everything together we have that same connective tissue in our bodies.
What does it do?
It wraps around each of your individual internal parts, keeping them separate and allowing them to slide easily with your movements. It’s strong, slippery and wet. It creates a sheath around each muscle; because it’s stiffer, it resists over-stretching and acts as an emergency brake.
Why is this important?
Give your shirt a tug and notice how the whole shirt moves. Everything is working together. Now tug it and hold it …… a very long time. This is how it is when you’re sitting at the desk all day without any stretch breaks, or activity in general.
It only takes 19 minutes for this connective tissue to bound up and create knots! Lack of activity will bound the once-flexible fibers into place.
Chronic stress causes the fibers to thicken in an attempt to protect the underlying muscle. Poor posture, repetitive movements and lack of flexibility pull the fascia into ingrained patterns. Knots (adhesions) can form within the stuck and damaged fibers; once they’ve formed, they’re very hard to get rid of.
The GOOD NEWS IS the damage that’s done to your fascia is reversible, you can avoid some tension setting in and/or maintain a lot more!
You can take care of your muscles with correct stretching, light to moderate foam rolling and routine massage.
“I personally feel like having awareness of our habits and changing our habits is half of the results you’re seeking. I strive to educate you on realizing what those habits are”
“She’s amazing! I’ve been suffering for years with
